Avon Lake, the community neighboring Meta's town of Avon, has the world's coolest library. The children's section is decorated with skyscrapers and superheroes, and the kid's section has puzzles, a dollhouse, a puppet house, and decorations on the wall with movable parts!

In part of the same building is another amazingly cool facility, Discovery Works. The first portion has tables set up with activities grouped by task: counting, shapes, and so on.

David played at the train table for 20 minutes straight. (He's been engrossed in the train table
at the Phillips, too.)

The back portion of Discovery Works is for older kids. Abby was allowed to go in with Meta. After about 20 minutes, Meta asked if I wanted to swap places with her. I did want to look more closely at the displays and activities. They were more science-based than in the first portion of the facility.
Abby wanted to play chess with me. Now, I try to suppress it (and thus rarely play games with my husband and my sibs) -- but I have a mean competitive streak! I've only played chess once in my life: Marcus taught me how to play; I beat him in the first game; and never played again! (Didn't want to lose my bragging rights!) But Abby insisted, so the man overseeing the place gave us basic instructions.

Abby didn't want to play anymore after I got two of her men! Meta scolded me: "She's only five years old!" She just had a sixth birthday, Meta!!

Oh Goodie! I'm so glad you posted pics! Isn't that discovery museum/library the coolest? Meta brought us there once during a visit and the boys thought it was the coolest.
Okay, so you like Chess? You'll have to let James introduce you to Chinese chess. In my opinion it is funner than regular chess. But I can never beat James. Maybe you can!
