Sorry that I didn't call back, Anna. Lots of phone calls tonight.Dad didn't feel the quake today although the Sacred Heart hospital may be in danger so they are moving some of the patients. He called tonight and is fine. Sends his love to all of you. Becca, your phone call to Colonel McAfee was great. Mark thanks you so much for that. Dr. Rob Sheridan is one of the most respected pediatric plastic surgeons in the nation. He emailed tonight (from Haiti) that if we can get the girl to Boston, they will take her there! Now how do we get her to Boston? Reminds me of trying to get wheelchairs for Ukraine from Colorado. It will work out. We just to have faith and try to figure out a way. Meta, if she goes there, maybe you can rally the women in your old ward to visit this young girl. [Her photo is in my previous blog, with the white scarf around her head.]Mark said that infections is the name of the game now. One lady came in with a gash down to her bone on her forehead and an abcess the size of 1/2 a baseball. This can kill you if not treated. He really hopes plastic surgeons will come next and help these people with all their injuries. He helped move 13 people with broken femurs from the lawn outside of Sacred Heart in 3 pickups to another place for surgeries. They had to leave the patients with broken tibias and fibulas at the Sacred Heart lawn. When someone asked, "Who can start IVs?" for the patients, your dad, of course said, "I can." He hasn't done IV starts for years but he did 11 of them and a nurse helped with the others. He seemed emotionally better than last night. He's sleeping in a guest house bunk room tonight at this hacienda. He's working with Spaniards, Argentinians, Cubans, Israelis. Why does it take a catastrophe for us to be able to work together?Love you all. Mom/Alice
