Church News on Haiti

Good article about the LDS Church's efforts to get 600 temporary housing kits into the hands of Haitians before the rainy season starts in April. "A single kit includes lumber, corrugated tin for the roof, cement and hurricane straps for the roof."

LDS Charities has a new website: http://www.lds.org/haiti-relief/relief/homepage.htm . And Dad is featured on the medical sub-site: http://www.lds.org/haiti-relief/relief/medical_relief.htm

Finally, Miriam de Schweinitz writes from the Dominican Republic, where she just began serving a mission. She translated the Spanish service into French for Haitian refugees attending Church (and one speaker spoke in English, so it went English --> Spanish --> French!). She wrote: "a little confusing but they were very grateful. I love the Haitians! Then I interpreted for the mission doctor trying to find out what was going on with a Haitian woman there in a wheelchair who had gotten her leg smashed in the earthquake."
