Dad's Presentation on Haiti, Update on Fedeline

This email came from my mom today:

Just wanted to let you know that Mark will be sharing experiences and pictures from Haiti at the LDS Church tonight (Monday), 7 pm. It's located at 4141 NW Harrison next to Arnold Park. Public is invited.
And here's another update on Fedeline (or is it Fedline? we've never seen it written...). I think many of you will remember that she is the 12 year old girl who darted under a car when the walls of buildings on both sides of the street began to collapse when the earthquake hit. The problem was that the car was still running and we aren't sure if the car was compressed or if she was trapped, but either way, the hot tail pipe caused severe burns on her face, neck, ears, shoulder, and arm. Mark spent time debriding her wounds in Port au Prince and then was able to turn her over to the hospital run by Medical Teams International in Haiti. Fedeline was flown from Haiti to Miami by the National Guard.
Mark talked with her pediatric plastic surgeon on Saturday night at Miami Children's Hospital in Florida. She has had about 4 skin grafts. Some of the grafts were taken from her leg and some from the portion of her scalp that was not burned. The grafts on her arm and neck are doing well. The grafts on her face and ear will take more time and they are doing "skin extenders" today. She and her mother will be there for at least 3 more weeks.
In her room is another Haitian girl named Adeline with injuries from the earthquake. She is 13 and does not know her last name or where her parents are. The only way they were able to find out her name was when the doctors showed her the letters of the alphabet and she picked out the letters in her name. It is a blessing that Fedeline's mother is there, too, so that Adeline is not alone and is receiving some mothering. We called a friend in Florida and she arranged for some people that she knew in Miami to visit Fedeline and her mother. We will be mailing both Fedeline and Adeline a box with some small games, trinkets, candy, t-shirt. If you have a photo of yourself or a small item you want us to send in the box, just bring it tonight.
We will have cards for people to sign tonight for both Adeline and Fedeline and will mail these also to these two young girls in Florida.
Good news amidst this tragedy
